The 3D Design Portfolio class introduces students to the foundational concepts of computer-aided design and modeling and challenges them to explore how computing and technology can impact the world. Students choose from several options to design a portfolio of work. What can you IMAGINE and CREATE using CAD, 3D printing, and fabrication? Semester one focuses on interior design and scale models. Build a greenhouse, plane, Rube Goldberg machine, and more. Semester Two explores the Internet of Things (IoT), and wearable circuitry. If you’re interested in interactive toys, smart accessories, or light-up fashions, this class is for you! Bring together craft, electronics, and programming to learn prototyping and design using the Design Lab tools: Glowforge laser printer, 3D printers, Cricut craft cutter, Raspberry Pi microcontrollers, micro:bits and more.
