More than 65 Parker students in grades K-12 honored their school’s paniolo roots by marching in the Hawaii Island Festival’s Paniolo Parade on Saturday, September 15 in Waimea for the fifth consecutive year.

“Our school and students were honored to be a part of this wonderful tradition that embodies the rich ranching history of our school and community,” said Mahealani Thompson, Parker School executive assistant and parade organizer.

Five riders rode horseback in the parade, including four female Parker students. Student riders were Marty Ka‘au‘a (grade 9), Sasha Golubitskiy (grade 8), Zoey Quiocho (grade 8), and Ka‘iulani Honda (grade 3).
