Head of School Search
Parker School is getting ready to say good-bye to our long outstanding leader, Dr. Carl Sturges, and hello to a new leader to take us into the future. Dr. Sturges will be retiring at the end of June 2020. Under Dr. Sturges’ leadership, Parker School has become one of the top private schools in the state, offering a quality college preparatory education with thriving music, theatre, and visual arts programs. The school’s debate team, started by Dr. Sturges, consistently places in the top three in the state, competing against schools with student bodies 6 to 12 times the size of Parker’s. Our athletics department, which has earned first place honors four years in a row in HMSA’s Kaimana Awards for achievements in athletics, academics, sportsmanship, healthy activities, and community service, will soon be getting a huge boost with our much-anticipated Center for Sports, Science and the Arts. Additionally, though still in its nascent stage, the school has started an exciting technology/robotics program. While much has changed, the Parker student spirit and sense of ‘ohana have remained. Parker School is known for its students, faculty, and staff who are caring, inclusive, and engaged in the world around them. They actively embody the school’s values of Excellence, Integrity, and Compassion.
We are grateful for Dr. Sturges’ unwavering vision, and commitment to Parker School. And, to ensure that his legacy lives on, we are now planning for Parker’s future and identifying our next Head of School. We are pleased to report that the Board has selected Educational Directions, one of the nation’s top Head Search consulting firms, to assist us in our search for a new Head of School. The February update below describes the special connection that Educational Directions (EduDX) has with Parker School. EduDX will guide us through the process, vetting the first round of candidates and working with us to ensure a successful search.
We have created this section on our website to inform you of the process and our progress toward the selection of a new Head of School. All communications to our school community, including the Search Prospectus, will be posted here.
