Upper School Day

The Main Hall opens at 7:30 a.m. for students who wish to arrive prior to the start of school at 8:10. During this time, students may get breakfast from the snack shop, meet with teachers and tutors for academic help, attend club meetings, meet friends and get ready for their school day. 

About the Block Schedule

The block schedule is designed to maximize class time, while minimizing subjects taught, and their transitions, within a single day.

The schedule alternates A and B days, with an A-X or B-X day each Friday. On A and B days, four of the eight classes meet each day for 75 minutes each. On A-X or B-X days, four of the eight classes meet for 70 minutues to allow for a 60-minute X block at 9:20 a.m., during which special assemblies and activities take place. The schedule rotates so that across two weeks, each class meets a total of five times - twice during one week, and three during the other.

Students who wish to participate in a Dramatiques production or Big Island Interscholastic Federation (BIIF) athletics will meet after school, from 3:15 p.m. until the activity is over, usually between 4:30 and 6:00 p.m., depending on the activity.
