Lower School Co-ed Track & Field

  • Julia Simmons

Coach Simmons founded the middle and lower school track and field program in 2011. A self-described “closet geek,” she has a bachelor’s in math and computer science from UCLA and has worked at the W.M. Keck Observatory since 1992, first as a telescope operator and more recently as a systems administrator. She grew up in California, where she played intramural volleyball in college. She has coached U6, U8 and U10 AYSO soccer and U8 with the Parker School Soccer Club. “I coach to make it fun for the kids to push themselves and perform their best,” she says. “If it’s fun, they’ll keep doing it forever. Their excitement and joy when they exceed their own expectations is contagious and is what keeps me coming back!” Coach Simmons enjoys running, playing indoor and beach volleyball and ultimate Frisbee, and mountain biking. Her favorite sport is hockey, and her favorite team is the Los Angeles Kings. She can often be found walking, cheering on the Parker volleyball and cross country teams, playing ultimate Frisbee, relaxing at the beach or gardening. She is the proud parent of a Parker varsity cross country runner.
