Scholarships for Applicants to Parker School

In addition to need-based financial aid which is available to all families at Parker School, several need-based and merit-based scholarships are available for students new to Parker School. The number of awards to be made for each scholarship is dependent upon several factors, including the size of the qualified applicant pool, space availability in each grade, and guidelines established by the Parker School Board of Directors.

~ Ulu Pono Scholarship ~

The Ulu Pono Scholarship is an award designated for students new to Parker School entering grades 6-8. This scholarship is given in recognition of a student’s character, demonstrated passion, and academic merit in an area of interest to the student (for example: sports, the arts, a community organization, or any other area that is meaningful to the student and in which their participation is notable). The Ulu Pono Scholarship provides up to 75% of annual tuition and is renewed each year of the student’s Parker School career based upon upholding the school’s missions and values, good citizenship, intellectual engagement, and academic standing and growth. This award is not given in addition to need-based financial aid, but in lieu of it.

~ Richard Smart Scholarship ~

The Richard Smart Scholarship recognizes exceptional academic achievement. Named after Richard Kaleioku Palmer Smart, the 6th generation family of Parker Ranch in Waimea, this scholarship is available to students applying for admission to grades 9-12 at Parker School and continues his legacy of commitment to the education and wellbeing of future generations. This merit award will be given to students with an exceptional academic record, great academic potential. The Richard Smart Scholarship provides up to 75% of annual tuition and renews each year of the recipient’s high school career based upon excellent academic progress and an exemplary disciplinary record. This award is not given in addition to regular need-based financial aid, but in lieu of it. The applicant’s degree of financial need is given consideration as well.

Scholarships for Current Parker School Students

~ Po‘okela Scholarship ~

The Po‘okela Scholarship recognizes exceptional achievement in the areas of STEM (science, technology, engineering, math), humanities, languages, art, and community stewardship. It is available to current Parker School students who will be enrolled in grades 6-12 during the 2024-2025 school year. There will be one $3,000 award given to a Middle School student and one $3,000 award to an Upper School student. This merit award can be granted in addition to standard need-based financial aid, though financial need is not a requirement. The award will renew annually based upon sustained excellent academic progress and be in good standing (exemplary citizenship) for the duration of the student’s Parker School career (as determined by the Scholarship Committee). When applying, students are asked to choose one of the categories above as the focus of their application. Recipients can only be awarded and maintain a single Po‘okela Scholarship during their tenure at Parker School.

Parker School is a Kamehameha Schools Kipona Scholarship School Collaborator. Students who receive Kipona funding can apply their award toward Parker School tuition if offered admissions. Please contact Kamehameha Schools or click here for further details about their scholarship program.
